A flight to Nukus opens the door to one of the region’s most striking experiences. Visit the world-renowned Savitsky Art Museum (optional), then travel to Muynaq, once a thriving port on the Aral Sea. Walk among abandoned ships, learn about the environmental history of the sea, and cross the vast Ustyurt Plateau with its surreal desert landscapes. Spend a magical night in a traditional yurt camp, enjoying dinner by a bonfire under a sky full of stars.
After a peaceful sunrise over the Aral Sea, continue to Khiva, a perfectly preserved open-air museum. Wander through the walled city of Ichan-Kala, admire minarets, madrasahs, palaces, and mausoleums, and experience the unique atmosphere of ancient Khorezm.
