—Winter Issyk-Kul and the canyon under snow

Is this trip for you?

Good for
  • Confident off-piste skiers and splitboarders
  • Groups of four to eight friends
Maybe not for you if
  • You have never skied off-piste
  • You travel alone — the minimum is four

Our honest opinion

+What we love about it
  • No lift queues, no other groups on the hill
  • The guesthouse food is a highlight
−What to be ready for
  • Snow depends on the season; late January is safest
  • The road from Bishkek is six hours in winter

Avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel are provided; bring your own skis or hire in Karakol.

What guests wrote

“Jyrgalan freeride: snowcat, skins, deep powder and four of us plus two guides. Cheaper than a week in the Alps and emptier than anywhere I have skied. Accommodation is a guesthouse with a sauna, which is all you need.”
